This February, you don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re away. The Sunshine Coast offers a little slice of relaxation, exploration, and respite: an incomparable 180 km stretch of British Columbia coastline, from Langdale to Lund. With a little something for everyone, here are five reasons to visit this February.
1 – Discover Your Love For The Historic Patricia Theatre At The Powell River Film Festival
One of the hidden gems on the Sunshine Coast is Powell River’s historic Patricia Theatre. It’s been the longest continuously running theatre in Canada, in operation since 1913. The Powell River Film Festival runs February 7th – 16th. It is a small but mighty film festival that celebrates the visual arts and diversity in film and filmmaking. They are unique in their chosen lineup of films and in the long-standing supportive community they have created. Come for the films and to discover Powell River in all its charms; afterward, head out for a walking tour of Historic Townsite with original 1900’s church, provincial buildings, and the first residential homes in the town.
The Festival’s opening party is Friday February 7th with a screening of “Assholes: A Theory.” (Watch the trailer below!). Check out the full line up with Early Bird Passes starting at $32.
Just one of the films playing at this year’s Film Festival in Powell River.
Based on Professor Aaron James’ New York Times bestselling book, Assholes: A theory, this intellectually provocative film takes a playful approach to uncovering why asshole behaviour is on the rise in the workplace, in government, and at home.
