This Canada Day on the Sunshine Coast is shaping up to be another stocked with a little something for everyone, and we have all the information you need to customize your coastal Canada Day extravaganza including parades, fireworks, fairgrounds, food, music and much much more.
So prepare your face paint and your flags, and don’t forget to let us in on the fun by using our #sunshinecoastbc when you post. Find your community celebration and have fun!
POWELL RIVER
If the North Coast is where you’re at this Canada Day, Willingdon Beach is the place to be! Come out and celebrate Canada Day on Monday July 1st from 3:00pm-10:30pm at Willingdon Beach. There will be tons of live, local music, Powell River Gymnastics and Aerial performances, 2 bouncy castles, jouster, face painting, Safeway’s Giant Cake, local food and sales vendors, games, activities, and more! And yes, after 10 years….there WILL be FIREWORKS! Stay tuned for a full schedule of performances.
SECHELT
Parade
The parade will begin at 10:30 at the corner of Cowrie and Ocean. From there it will travel down Cowrie St to Inlet Ave. It turns left on Inlet, and then turns left and travels up Dolphin St to finish at Dolphin and Trail (the corner of Hackett Park).
Cowrie Street
Join the Sunshine Coast Lions Club for a Pancake Breakfast beginning at 8am. It will take place at the corner of Inlet and Cowrie St.
Right after the parade we kick off Canada Day festivities with the opening ceremonies and cake at our Performance Stage on Cowrie in front of Sunstone Beads and Cowrie Pharmacy. There will be a classic car display and two music stages.
The rest of the day until 4 pm will feature live music, break-dancing, food, beer, cider and spirits. We have Brickers, Tapworks Brewing, 101 Brewhouse, Bruinwood Distillery and Persephone serving up drinks and various food vendors with local eats for you to savour.
Hackett Park
Hackett Park free family fun starts after the parade. There will be community booths, fun kids activities like bouncy castles, pony rides, face painting and dozens of craft vendors and food stations. Come on down for a full day of fun with the kids.

GIBSONS
Gibsons Public Market’s Night Market
Start the weekend off on Friday, June 28th, from 4pm – 10 pm, come enjoy this vibrant outdoor community celebration and experience the true vibe of Coast life.
The event features an array of savory and sweet food options, beverages from across the Sunshine Coast, artisans and service providers, live music, clowns, magicians, and a supervised kids movie so you can relax, shop, eat and drink.

Winegarden Park
This year on Canada’s birthday Gibsons will be holding its celebration at Winegarden Waterfront Park with “family style entertainment”. From 2:00 – 2:20 Legion Colour Guard & Pipe Band, singing of O’Canada in English and French by Richard Fortier and speech by Councillor Stafford Lumely.
