We encourage everyone planning a trip to the Sunshine Coast to explore safely, responsibly, and respectfully. We’re all visitors on the traditional territories of the Tla’amin, Klahoose, shíshálh, and Skwxwú7mesh nations.
Thormanby Island – one of the Sunshine Coast´s best-kept secrets – is the perfect place to spend the day relaxing.
Buccaneer Bay Marine Park is the spot for visitors, enjoy a scenic ocean tour by water taxi from Secret Cove Marina to North Thormanby Island. Walk miles along the pristine shoreline, swim the tranquil warm waters, or savour a delicious picnic lunch while observing the array of birds and botany. When the tide is low it is possible to walk to South Thormanby, while exploring tidal pools and a variety of colourful marine life.
Boaters will also find haven at this little island paradise. The large sheltered bay provides safe anchorage in most summer conditions. Shoreline is accessible by dingy. Want to throw a few casts? Be sure to pick up your fishing license beforehand.
Thormanby also makes for an excellent paddling day trip. Experienced sea kayakers can launch from Secret Cove & circumnavigate the island. Check with one of our local outfitters for rentals and tours, & be sure to check the tide tables and current information as navigating Welcome Pass can be a bit tricky.
