Sunshine Coast Trail

Experience Canada’s longest hut-to-hut hiking trail.

Located in the Powell River area, the Sunshine Coast Trail stretches over 180km of beautiful landscapes that range from coastal shorelines and old growth forests to pristine lakes and panoramic mountaintops. The trail provides hikers with the opportunity to experience Powell River’s breathtaking backcountry, with its rich flora and fauna. The Sunshine Coast Trail stretches from Sarah Point in Desolation Sound all the way down to Saltery Bay. There are currently 15 huts along the trail that are “first-come, first-sleep." Many have surrounding tent sites nearby, just in case. Some of the higher elevation huts are also winterized, making the Sunshine Coast Trail accessible year around.

If you aren’t ready to tackle the whole trail, there are several access points allowing hikers to explore smaller sections—otherwise, this is one extraordinary multi-day hiking trip. Huts dot the trail at stunning locations and make for a diverse day hike, or a secure overnight experience. For hiking guides, trip planning information, and more, visit sunshinecoasttrail.com
